HOAs Can Ban Firearms in Private Homes?!!!

I've never liked HOAs to begin with.  But here in South Dakota, one of our state senators sponsored a bill to prevent HOAs from banning firearms and ammunition in private homes.  It passed out of committee with only one "No" vote from a democrat in Sioux Falls (surprised?) and is now headed to full state senate vote.

I am confident that a bill like this one will pass here in South Dakota because we have a solidly conservative legislation and a very pro second amendment governor.  But it begs the question why it is that HOAs even have the authority to institute such unconstitutional practices as telling residents that they do not have a Second Amendment.

The Matthew Perna Case: A Closer Look at Justice in the Aftermath of January 6th

The events of January 6, 2021, will forever be etched in the annals of American history. While the storming of the Capitol building was undoubtedly a shocking and regrettable moment, it has also raised concerns about the way justice is being served in its aftermath. The case of Matthew Perna, a conservative demonstrator caught up in the events of that fateful day, is a striking example of the complex issues at play.

Matthew Perna, a patriotic American who believed his voice deserved to be heard, attended the January 6th demonstration to support what he saw as a legitimate concern – election integrity. Perna, like many others, protested peacefully that day, and there is no evidence to suggest he engaged in any violent or destructive behavior.

However, Perna found himself arrested and facing serious charges in the wake of the events at the Capitol. This has sparked concerns among conservatives about whether justice is being applied fairly and impartially.

The principles of due process and equal treatment under the law are cornerstones of our justice system. It's important to ensure that these principles are upheld for all individuals, regardless of their political beliefs. The case of Matthew Perna is emblematic of the broader questions surrounding the treatment of demonstrators from conservative backgrounds in the aftermath of January 6th.

While those who engaged in violence and criminal acts on that day, including the ANTIFA thugs who dressed up as Trump supporters and incited violence, must be held accountable, it is essential to make a clear distinction between peaceful protesters and those who incited or participated in acts of violence. Matthew Perna, as far as the available evidence suggests, falls into the former category.

All Americans must remain vigilant in ensuring that the legal system provides fair and impartial treatment to all citizens, even those whose political views differ from the prevailing narrative.  This isn't a left or right, Democrat or Republican issue.  ALL sides should be concerned about this. The Matthew Perna case serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving the principles of justice, fairness, and due process, even in times of political turmoil.  Unfortunately, our justice system is clearly one-sided in favor of the left.

Tragically, Matthew took his own life after learning that the "Terrorist Enhancement" would add years to his prison sentence for his involvement in the January 6 demonstration at the US Capitol. As we move forward, it is crucial that we continue to advocate for transparency and fairness in the legal proceedings related to January 6th, so that justice truly prevails for all involved, including individuals like Matthew Perna who engaged in peaceful protest.
